President's Message
Thank you for visiting the Short Hills Association (“SHA”) website, your online link to the civic association that has arduously served the Short Hills community since 1911. We are in the process of updating our site to provide new and improved communications with the Short Hills community.
SHA is a member-supported, volunteer run, not-for-profit organization. We have remained active in preserving the town’s character and promoting the interests and welfare of the residents of Short Hills. We are the only active homeowners’ community association in Millburn Township.
We are proud of being part of Millburn. The Millburn Public School system, nationally recognized, is the highest ranked school district in the state. Additionally, Millburn is home to the Paper Mill Playhouse, with a world class reputation, The Short Hills Mall, one of the most renowned upscale shopping malls in the country, the Short Hills Hilton, a five star ranked hotel and offices of major corporations and professional organizations.
The Association’s Officers and Council members have been committed to persistently improving the quality of life of our residents as well as upholding Short Hills’ highly regarded reputation. Over time, our impact has been significant. At monthly council meetings as well as at ad hoc committee meetings we develop positions on issues and advocate them to decision makers.
Further, since we are a part of Millburn Township, we actively participate in meetings of the Town Council and continually monitor the Board of Education, Zoning Board, Recreation and other municipal boards and commissions.
For example, the SHA helped to prevent the unworkable downtown development plan. Currently, we are actively working to stop the construction of a 70 foot tall high density project from being built on the former Don’s/Tutor Time site on South Orange Avenue. This is a difficult fight against developers who are well connected with a total disregard for adjoining Short Hills residences. We need your support and cannot let this happen.
Please join the hundreds of Short Hills families who are helping us continue our mission by becoming a member and/or serving on the Short Hills Association Council.
Annual household membership dues are only $20.00. The SHA is duly registered as a non-profit organization. Please send your dues to:
Post Office Box 171, SHA, Short Hills, NJ 07078
I invite you to contact us with your thoughts, suggestions and/or volunteer your time.
Thank you for your time, dues and commitment to making Short Hills thrive!
